About The Spartans

The School District of Superior has a long tradition of educating and empowering students while achieving excellence and support from our community. We are home to a safe, positive, and student-centered environment focused on teaching the whole student.

Located in the northwestern tip of Wisconsin, our district calls Douglas County and the City of Superior home. We serve students from the City of Superior, the Towns of Oakland, Parkland, Summit, and Superior, and the Villages of Oliver and Superior. The Spartans work with the community and provide a SUPERIOR education for all students.

The School District of Superior believes that student success is paramount. We strive to continuously improve our graduation rates and attendance and ensure the future is bright for all our students. We emphasize the importance of a rich curriculum designed by highly qualified staff members and pride ourselves in lower class sizes, staff qualifications, and student achievement. Our eight school campuses and preschool learning centers cover 1 million square feet. We provide excellent education programs for children pre-kindergarten through grade 12. There are over 4,000 enrolled students, with a 14 to 1 student-teacher-class ratio. As one of the largest employers in the area, we are home to over 800 teachers and support staff. In addition, Superior is home to 27 mental health workers, including - social workers, counselors, psychologists, and coordinators.

Demographics can be found our our District Profile Page.

We provide award-winning Division 1 high school athletics, fine arts programs, five different early childhood development programs, hands-on technology education in Construction Academy & Spartan Manufacturing, and special education that leads to achieving career readiness with Project SEARCH.

The district is overseen by the District Administrator and seven school board members.

Educating our students to be the best-contributing citizens in our society is a task we readily accept. We partner with many technical schools, colleges, and universities - including Northwoods Technical College and UW-Superior.
